Check-in: Know how to do it
Check-in is a mandatory procedure for all air travellers. It confirms the presence of the passenger and their baggage with the respective airline.
There are, however, several ways to check-in. See them here and choose the one that is most convenient for you.

How far in advance do I need to check-in?
The recommended check-in time varies depending on the flight. In order to avoid delays and make the most of your pre-boarding time, please respect your airline's minimum check-in time. That way, you also avoid the risk of arriving after check-in closes:
At the Airport's check-in desk:
- Schengen flights: 90 minutes
Schengen regulations have removed controls at the internal borders of signatory states: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland.
- Non-Schengen flights (Europe): 120 minutes
- Flights to Third Countries (Intercontinental): 180 minutes
For most airlines, check-in can be made online 48 hours prior to boarding – check the recommended check-in time with your airline in advance.
Flights to the United States and Switzerland - 24 hours
Remember that, after checking-in, you will have to go through X-ray screening and, when travelling to non-Schengen destinations, you must also go through passport control. Therefore, avoid delays and plan your arrival at the airport in advance.
Where do I check-in?
Because procedures can vary, we advise you to contact your airline before travelling, to find out which documents are needed and which check-in options are available.
However, for most cases, you can check-in through one of three ways: via the ANA APP on your smartphone, at the counters of the respective airlines at the airport, at the Self Check-In Kiosk, also at the airport, and also via the internet or smartphone.
How do I check-in at airline counters?
At the airport, go to the Check-In area.
Check the airport's information displays for your flight number and the corresponding check-in counter. To find yours, walk along the counter line and look at the identification displays, indicating the airline, destination and flight number.
How can I use the Self Check-In at the Kiosks available at the airport?
Self Check-In Kiosks allow passengers to avoid queues.
At the Lisbon Airport, you will find Self Check-In Kiosks in Terminal 1, at the check-in areas and also at Departures and by the subway entrance.
Can I use the Self Check-In if I am travelling with hold baggage?
Yes. Even if you are carrying hold baggage, you can Self Check-in at the airline Kiosks. To check your bags, just head to the drop-off counters after doing the Self Check-In.
How do I check-in using the internet or my smartphone?
To check-in comfortably download the ANA APP on your smartphone, where you’ll find the check-in option for several airlines.
You can also visit the airline's website and follow the instructions provided. Your check-in is complete when you receive your boarding pass via email, which must be presented whenever requested (either in electronic or printed form).
If I am travelling with hold luggage and I have checked-in online or using my mobile phone, how do I check-in my baggage?
If you have baggage to check-in and you have checked-in online or using your mobile phone, go to your airline's baggage drop-off counter and check-in your baggage. This way, you are ready to proceed directly to security control.
